She immediately received flak from the audience as they assumed she was referring to Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant.
Now, in an exclusive chat with the Hindustan Times, the 28-year-old actress has opened up about the backlash she received because people misinterpreted the RP in her life. Talking about the backlash and trolling she face because of the entire ordeal, she expressed that the audience to analyse the rumours before believing it them. Just because something is reported or said on the internet doesn’t mean that they should just believe it. She went on to talk about the comparisons made between cricketers and actors.
She said, “We always see comparisons being made that cricketers have way more respect than actors, or that they earn more than actors, and that bothers me a lot. I do understand that they play for the country, and are loved and respected largely, but actors as well have done so much. They’ve also represented the country.”
She went on talk about the video that had gone viral that showed people shouting her and Pant’s name. She shared that people teasing her with the name of the cricketer made her extremely comfortable. The Sanam Re actor expressed that the audience shouldn’t treat people who represent their country like a commodity, they can’t behave like “gali-mohalle ke log.” For her it is invasion of privacy. But I believe, in life, there are way more important things to be stressing about and so I prefer to focus on work and worry about what to do on the professional front.”
