Well it seems like the Bollywood actors are yet to experience some of the darkest phases of their careers. Days after it was reported that Ranveer Singh has replaced Vicky Kaushal in Aditya Dhar’s ambitious project, The Immortal Ashwatthama, it is now being reported that the makers are reluctant to go ahead with him due to his back-to-back flops. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the movie is an expensive film and looking at the unpredictable box-office numbers, the makers want to invest their money in an actor who can pull a larger crowd in the theatres.
As per the entertainment portal, keeping in mind that Ranveer’s recent filmography has failed to rake in the numbers at the box office, the producers at Jio Studios realised that “there was a huge financial risk in taking him on board.” As per the source, the movie is supposed to be mounted on a large scale and they want a big-budget actor who they can safely invest their money on. The source claimed that the makers have let Ranveer go, rather than taking the risk as he did not fit the bill anymore. The report further states that the south actors like Jr NTR and Allu Arjun are being offered the projects. Talking about the same, the entertainment portal quoted an industry insider explaining how getting a south star on board is the safer bet for the makers. They said, “The moment an actor like Jr. NTR or Allu Arjun comes on board, the film automatically becomes a Pan-India project and will be dubbed in multiple languages. It also leads to an increase in box office revenue. With Ranveer, that is not possible as he is not a pan-India actor. Forget South, even Hindi audiences may not turn up in huge numbers, courtesy his back-to-back debacles.” ALSO READ: WHAT! Ranveer Singh’s Bollywood Career In DANGER? A few weeks ago, it was also reported that Yash Raj Studios, who launched Ranveer Singh too are reluctant to work with him as majority of his movies produced by them have turned out to be flops.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus. He is currently busy shooting for Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, co-starring Alia Bhatt. The movie will also see Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles.
