Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji is all set to dazzle on the big-screen yet again with her upcoming movie ‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway’. Over the years she has made a niche for herself by starring in powerful women-centric roles. Having made her debut in 1996 with a Bengali movie Biyer Phool and later in Bollywood with Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, the critically-acclaimed actress recently opened up about why she started doing movies.
During a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Rani opened up about the time when making her career as an actress accidentally saved her family financially. She revealed that she had never planned on becoming an actress and always aspired to be a lawyer or an interior designer. However, it was her mother who persuaded her try going for auditions. The 44-year-old actress said, “When I grew up, an offer came my way. My mother very politely put it to me that try it, if it doesn’t work for you, you can go back to studies. Maybe I didn’t realise at that time the situation in my family was such that there was a need of financial help. But I didn’t think of this much as this. She further expressed, “The kind of lifestyle that my parents tried to give me and my brother, it was quite comfortable. I’m so glad that she did because I’m really in love with my profession today.”
On the work front, Rani Mukerji was last seen in Bunty Aur Babli 2 alongside Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh. She will be next seen in ‘Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway,’ a movie based on the real-life case with Sagarika Bhattacharya, whose kids were taken away by the Norwegian Child Welfare Services on the grounds of improper treatment. Directed by Ashima Chibber the movie is set to release on March 17th.
