Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda will next be seen in the upcoming film titled ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ where he essays the role of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar. In order to get into the skin of his character, the actor has left no stone unturned and has even gone to extra lengths to justify it. Producer Anand Pandit in an interview has revealed that Randeep lost 26 kgs for his role in the film by eating only 1 khajoor and 1 glass of milk for 4 months. Yes, you read that right!
On the occasion of Swatantra Veer Savarkar's 140th birth anniversary, the makers of the film released its official teaser, giving a glimpse of Randeep’s character. The short and intriguing teaser introduced Swatantrya Veer Savarkar as the 'most wanted Indian by the British' and 'the most feared revolutionary.’ Speaking with a leading daily, Anand mentioned that the actor was so involved in the character that he even shaved off his hair for the role.
Pandit was quoted as saying “He was so involved in the character and till date is. To essay it on the screen, he said that he won’t leave any stone unturned. He had only 1 khajoor and 1 glass of milk for 4 months until the shooting got over.”
Meanwhile, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar also marks Randeep’s debut as a director and it is slated to hit the theaters this year. It also stars TV actress Ankita Lokhande and actor Amit Sial in key roles. Talking about the film, Randeep Hooda stated Savarkar led an incredible life, and as he learned more about him while researching for the film, he has come to admire him tremendously.
