Filmmaker and actor Tusshar Kapoor opened up about the challenges that he has faced as a star kid during a candid conversation with Divya Dutta on the second day of the Khushwant Singh Literary Festival at Kasauli.

Talking to the self-proclaimed outsider Divya Dutta, Kapoor expressed that he too considers himself an outsider and not everyone lays out a red carpet for every star kid. He confessed that he had to wait for his co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan for more than 12 hours while shooting for his debut movie Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai as she was shooting for four movies simultaneously.

He said, “A red carpet is not laid out for every star kid. While shooting for my debut film, Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, I had to wait for my co-star and another star kid Kareena Kapoor Khan for 12-14 hours as she was simultaneously working on four films. Her first film was yet to release but such was the demand for her that she had already signed all these films.

The Golmaal franchise actor published his book Bachelor Dad, earlier this year, where he had penned down his journey of conceiving his son Laksshya Kapoor. Through the book, he wanted to break down the general perception of the audience on star kids being ‘dumb dropouts’.

He said, “After my son came into my life, everybody – be it acquaintances, media persons, colleagues or friends – would ask me: How do you manage? So, I decided to publish a book on the subject. Besides, the general perception is that star kids are dumb drop-outs, who can hardly string two words together and I wanted to prove that that’s not true.”

Adding on to the previous answer, Tusshar went on the share that he faced a lot of judgment for having a kid through surrogacy and being a single dad. He said, “People also presumed that my child will be raised by nannies just because I am an actor and a single dad but it is far from the truth.”
