Baazigar is one of the iconic films in Bollywood which is till date adored by the audience. Released in 1993, the Kajol, Shilpa Shetty, and Shah Rukh Khan starrer was directed by filmmakers Abbas-Mustan. Known for creating blockbuster suspense thrillers during the 2000s, they are one of the celebrated known director-producer duo of the Hindi film industry. In a recent interview, they opened up about their 30-year-old film and how Kajol couldn’t stop herself from laughing during Shilpa’s death scene because she was only 17 years of age. 

Recalling the unheard anecdote, the director duo revealed that the actresses were only 17 when their parents signed the film for them. Talking to Radio Nasha Official, Mustan revealed that the 49-year-old actress couldn’t contain her laughter during the shoot of Shilpa’s character ‘Seema Chopra’s' death scene. Quoted by Bollywood Shaadis, he added, “In one of the scenes, when Shilpa’s character is pushed and falls off the terrace and dies, Kajol is supposed to cry, and SRK consoles her and takes her back into the car. However, when she saw Shilpa lying on the ground, she couldn’t control her laughter. She was just 17, and I think she didn’t understand the scene.” ALSO READ: DID YOU KNOW? Abbas interjected him and stated that Kajol wasn’t laughing because of her age or because she didn’t understand the scene. It was due to the fact that Shilpa lay dead with her eyes wide open. The actress had once mentioned the same to him expressing how she wasn’t able to bring out the necessary emotions as the 48-year-old actress’ eyes were open. They went on to reveal how they managed to make the actress serious towards the scene. 

Abbas-Mustan revealed, “We called her and told her, ‘Imagine the dead girl lying on the ground is your younger sister, Tanishaa. What would you do if you saw your real sister in a pool of blood?’ She immediately started crying. She continued to sob even after sitting in the car. We did the shot in just one take, and whatever she did in the scene was natural.”
