Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has faced his fair share of ups and downs in the Hindi entertainment industry. However, without getting discouraged he kept on working, and over the years become one of the most sought-after actors in his generation. Even at the age of 81, he is entertaining the audience with his versatile performances. Opening up about his impressive journey, actor Shekhar Suman, who was recently seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, recalled Bachchan’s story that Shashi Kapoor once told him. 

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shekhar spoke about how the Shahenshah of Bollywood had a run of bad luck, early in his career. He was almost written off entirely by the filmmakers, however, he emerged as one of the greatest actors the nation has ever produced. He went on to recall an interview where the 81-year-old himself had opened up about his 13-15 films failing for the first few years. The 61-year-old actor explained that he know it was true because Shashi Kapoor had told him all about it. He explained how many filmmakers didn’t respect Big B and would often talk ill about him. Suman added, “I know it for a fact because Shashi Kapoor told me. He said that there were producers who couldn’t work without him later, but they were the ones who were saying, ‘Oh my God, this constipated looking actor has come again looking for work. Throw him out of the set, who allowed him inside?’. He was rejected for having a bad voice by All India Radio, when he auditioned to be a news reader. How ironic is that? On the work front, Shekhar Suman was last seen in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Currently streaming on Netflix, the makers of the show recently announced the web show’s second season. On the other hand, Amitabh Bachchanwas last seen in Uunchai alongside Anupam Kher and Boman Irani. He also did a cameo in Tiger Shroff-Kriti Sanon’s Ganapath. Having wrapped the 15th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, he will be next seen in Section 84, Kalki 2898 AD, and the official remake of the hit Hollywood movie The Intern.
