Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has often been targeted by trolls who call her out for nepotism. She is termed as ‘nepo kid’ and has been accused of getting the upper hand as compared to others due to her close bond with Karan Johar. In a new interview, the Raazi actress has once again sparked nepotism debate as she admits it’s been easier for her to get through in the film industry and even acknowledged she has privileges.
Speaking with Harper Bazar Arabia, the Raazi actress spoke at length about her views on nepotism and stated that she acknowledges the fact that she has gotten that head start. Alia was quoted saying, “It has definitely come up a lot in conversation over the last couple of years. The long and short of it is that I empathise. I understand that it’s possibly been easier for me to get through the door than the next person. And I compare my dreams to another person’s dreams; no dream is bigger, smaller, or more intense. Everybody’s dreams are the same, and everybody’s desires are the same. So I completely understand where that conversation comes from. The only thing I can say is that I acknowledge the fact that I have gotten that head start.”
She added, “I acknowledge the fact that I do have that privilege, which is why I give 100 percent every day and I never take my work for granted. The only thing I can do is keep my head down and keep working.”
Though Alia was launched by Karan Johar in Bollywood, one cannot ignore her talent as an actor. She has come a long way in her career and has proved her mettle as a talented actress in the industry. Bhatt is best known for her performance in films like Raazi, Dear Zindagi, Highway, Gully Boy, Udta Punjab, Gangubai Kathiawadi, Kapoor & Sons, and others. ALSO READ:
