Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi’s residence in Mumbai was searched by the Bengaluru Police on Thursday, in connection with a drugs case allegedly involving his brother-in-law Aditya Alva, reports NDTV. Aditya Alva is the son of former  Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva, and as per reports, he is accused in the ‘Sandalwood drugs case’- the alleged drug racket in the Kannada film industry. As per Bengaluru police, Aditya Alva is absconding and they searched Vivek Oberoi’s house after the police got information that Alva was there.

NDTV quoted Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Bengaluru police saying, “Aditya Alva is absconding. Vivek Oberoi is his relative and we got some information that Alva is there. So we wanted to check. So a court warrant was obtained and Crime Branch team has gone to his house in Mumbai.” According to the report in NDTV, Alva has been missing since the police launched action in the case about drugs being allegedly supplied to singers and actors in the Kannada film industry also called, ‘Sandalwood’.

So far, Kannada actors Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani are among the 15 people who were arrested in this case.


According to a report in India Today, the judicial custody of Sanjjanaa Galrani and Ragini Dwivedi have been extended till October 23 by the special NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) court in Bengaluru.
