Anushka looks ethereal in a red Benarasi saree from the
by-lanes of Peeli Kothi in Benaras. Like her mehendi, engagement and wedding
outfits, this one too comes from the house of Sabyasachi.
“I was particularly excited about this look because I have seen an entire
generation of Bengali women getting married in red Benarasi sarees,” exults the
designer.
Anushka finishes her look with a red bindi, sindoor and mogra in her hair. Her
bespoke jewellery stands out. You can never really go wrong with a heritage
uncut diamond choker and stunning jhumkas.
The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli complements Anushka in a very subtle and
elegant manner. His outfit for the night is a black textured silk signature
bandhgala with buttons set in 18 karat gold. Designed by Sabyasachi, Virat’s
white silk kurta with hand-woven brocade churidaar, is teamed with mojris. What
steals the show though, is his hand-embroidered antique Pashmina shawl. Sigh!
Virushka's wedding reception is currently underway at the
Taj Diplomatic Enclave in Delhi. The party has been hosted by the Kohlis.
Just a few minutes back, PM Narendra Modi arrived for the
gala reception, to meet and congratulate the newlyweds.
