Ace comedian Vir Das’ scheduled show in Bengaluru has been canceled after a Hindu group staged a protest against him. His comedy show was supposed to be held at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Malleshwaram on Thursday evening. However, the right-wing group, Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti (HJS), filed a Police complaint against Vir alleging that he insults the Hindu religion in his shows. The comedian took to his social media handles to inform about the cancellation of his show and stated that his show has been pushed to a further date.

Taking to his Instagram handle, he shared a note that read, “Hey folks. Due to unavoidable circumstances we are pushing the Bengaluru show. New details and dates soon. Sorry for the inconvenience.” As reported by India Today, the right-wing organization on Monday lodged a police complaint against Das for his show in Bengaluru. This is not the first time that HJS has filed a complaint against the stand-up comedian.  ALSO READ: TROUBLE! In their earlier complaint, the Hindu Janajagruthi Samiti had said, “It is not right to allow such a controversial person to hold such a program in a communally sensitive area like Bangalore. When Karnataka is already facing many law and order problems due to communal incidents, such events could vitiate law and order.”

For the unversed, Vir Das received severe backlash for his monologue during his performance at the John F Kennedy Centre in Washington DC. He posted a video titled "I come from two Indias" on his YouTube channel and in no time people started trolling and criticizing him for ‘insulting India.’
