Bollywood actor Vidyut Jammwal, who was last seen in Junglee, has been acquitted by a court in 2007 assault case due to "lack of evidence". Vidyut along with his friend Rishant Goswami were freed from all the charges that were levelled against them. Reportedly, the Commando actor and his friend were accused of hitting a person named Rahul Suri, a resident of Juhu area, with a bottle at a five-star hotel in suburban Santacruz in August 2007.

The PTI report suggests, “The businessman, a resident of Juhu, had alleged that the actor and his friend had smashed a bottle on his head at a five-star hotel in Mumbai."

Aniket Nikam, the actor's lawyer told ANI, "The case pertains to an allegation levelled against Vidyut Jammwal in the year 2007 of assaulting somebody while he was partying in a club in Mumbai. During the trial, we were able to establish that there was absolutely no incriminating evidence against the actor," he said, further asserting that "the court has accepted our submissions today and acquitted Jamwal.

Taking to social media, ANI Tweeted, “Mumbai: Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Bandra, has acquitted actor Vidyut Jamwal in a 2007 assault case. He was accused of smashing a bottle on a Juhu resident’s head. (File pic)”
