Kahaani revolved around a pregnant Vidya Bagchi (Vidya)
searching for her missing husband in Kolkata during the festival
of Durga Puja. Her hunt is assisted by Satyoki “Rana” Sinha (Parambrata
Chatterjee) and Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).
At the moment, Vidya Balan is gearing up for the release
of Begum Jaan, the trailer of which has been received well. The film is
set in partition times and Vidya will be seen donning the role of a procurer or
the madam of a brothel. The anger, the controlled emotions, the voice
modulation- Vidya steals the show and it’s impossible for viewers to take their
eyes off the actress. Her body language too complements the role immaculately.

During an exclusive interview with SpotboyE.com, Vidya Balan spoke about her role in Begum Jaan and said, “It’s a role that I wanted to play since long. It required me to be very violent and abusive, and I didn’t know it was in me, but it was.”
Begum Jaan directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment. The film is co-produced by Sakshi Bhatt and Shree Venkatesh Films with executive producer Kumkum Saigal. It is Hindi remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini.
The film will hit theatres on April 14.
