Vidya Balan will be back on the big screens with another risqué film, Begum Jaan.
The story revolves around a brothel whose madam is played by none other than Vidya.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given the film an ‘A’ certificate and ordered 11 edits.
A source told SpotboyE.com: “ The cuts include a few cuss words and some inflammatory dialogues.”
The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah and Gauahar Khan and is produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt.
So, will the Bhatts take the film to the Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) to get the decision reviewed?
We contacted Mukesh Bhatt and he told us that the makers have accepted the CBFC’s decision. “The cuts are fair. We will not contest it or go to any tribunal. The essence of the film has not been tampered, even a wee bit,” Mukesh Bhatt told SpotboyE.com.
Begum Jaan which is slated for an early 2017 release, is a part of Vidya’s bold new avatar. After playing a prostitute, Vidya will also play a naughty late-night RJ in Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar’s Tumhari Sulu.
Directed by Srijit Mukherjee, Begum Jaan, is expected to hit theatres in March, 2017.
