The debate of nepotism refuses to die down. Last evening, Varun Dhawan visited an event in the city where he was quizzed about Kangana’s accusation on Karan Johar who has only launched star kids, including Varun himself.

Much to our surprise, Varun agreed to Kangana and replied, “Who all has he launched by now? They're all star kids right? So, how is it an allegation? It is a fact, right? However, he has also launched a lot of directors also, like Shashank Khaitan, who is a dear friend. He is from Nashik and he had nothing to do with films. He just gave his script to Karan and Karan wanted to make a film with him. Karan has also made a film titled Gippy. He launched a girl with that too. Sidharth (Malhotra), he is also not a star-kid, but Karan launched him also,”

Talking about Kangana, Varun said, "To a certain extent what she (Kangana) is saying is right. I think this matter was blown up. She was just trying to get a point across. She wanted to say it in her own way but people stretched it too much. But we are a fraternity."

Interestingly, in the 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, the film fraternity applauded the finest performances of the year. However, the event made headlines for its “Nepotism Rocks” act by Varun Dhawan, Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar.

Although the trio didn’t name Kangana Ranaut directly, it was more than evident that they were referring to her. No wonder, soon after the episode, the three faced severe backlash from Twitteratis with many terming their act “distasteful” and them as three “bullies”.

Post which, Varun took to Twitter to apologise for his comments. He wrote, "Performing at #NewYorkCity iifa was an amazing experience. Inspired and humbled and sorry if I let anyone down. #onelove"

Looks like Varun didn't want to take any chance this time and that's why he preffered supporting Kangana than rubbing her the wrong way again?
