After bagging the coveted Shuddhi, looks like Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt might have another biggie in their kitty.
Seems, Shaad Ali is planning to remake his mentor Mani Ratnam's Tamil film OK Kanmani in Hindi with Varun and Alia.
Last evening, the Bunty aur Babli director held a special screening of the romantic comedy for the two young stars at Light Box (Santacruz, Mumbai).
Shaad debuted as a director with Saathiya which was a remake of Mani’s Tamil film. He then did Bunty aur Babli, but went back to assist Mani on Guru and Raavan when his third venture Jhoom Barabar Jhoom tanked at the box-office.
Shaad and Mani's relationship goes beyond professional level; Shaad took personal care of Mani when the Yuva director dealt with health issues sometime ago. On the other hand, Mani was by his side when Shaad was reeling from a bad marriage with his childhood sweetheart Shahzneen Hussain whom he married in a grand ceremony in Lucknow in January 2006.
Incidentally, this will not be the first time that Alia has been approached for OK Kanmani. She was asked to be a part of the Tamil version but had declined. Now that the film has received rave reviews, looks like shes had a change of heart.
