The fate of the female protagonist in Ulajh, an espionage thriller directed and co-written by Sudarshan Saria, mirrors the film's convoluted plot. The story is a complex tangle that progressively worsens, making it challenging to grasp what is happening with and around the lead character until everything is on the brink of disaster. Produced by Junglee Pictures, Ulajh stars Janhvi Kapoor in a physically demanding role that, unfortunately, offers limited emotional depth. Despite its flaws, the film isn't entirely devoid of noteworthy elements. One significant aspect is what the central female character brings to the narrative, showcasing her resilience and determination amidst the chaos.

Well, critics are disappointed by Janhvi Kapoor's Ulajh, here's what they has to say about it!

The Indian Express: The spy genre is a well-trodden path, but there's always space for a slick flick with characters who make you believe in their twisted convictions and questionable actions. Here believability is sacrificed for contrivances, and staginess. It's even more disappointing because here's a fine ensemble left to fumble through an amateurish plot-line.

The Week: The problem with 'Ulajh', written, by Parveez Shaikh and Sudhanshu Saria, who has also directed it, is that its screenplay is sometimes steeped in the reality and Palghar Ro bureaucracy of the Indian foreign service, but conveniently all of it disappears when it comes to Suhana going out on a limb to save the day and her reputation. "Ulajh' is not really interested in being a nail-biting spy thriller. It is an elaborate showpiece for Kapoor to show off her chops. Kapoor, 27, seems to have nailed the whole stardom enterprise.

Scroll.in: Unlike Raazi, Ulajh has a confused plot, a questionable lead character, and unengaging secondary characters. Jahnvi Kapoor works extra hard to make Suhana worthy of empathy despite questionable choices.

Hindustan Times: Ulajh, as a film, is that in-your-face product placement, selling you the actor in Janhvi Kapoor. While at this juncture in the film, it's literally their 'praan' at stake, it's still not as intelligent a wedge-in as the marketing department might have thought it to be. Money Control. A spy thriller should have a grand opening, but this one, like its protagonist, falls flat. Ulajh, which translates to entangled, is convoluted and nowhere near a good, complex script. It is a standard template of a spy movie, it checks the boxes of a spy thriller, and just flips the gender.
