Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt & Co are tearing their hair out. Buzz is, the Censor Board does not want them to use the word 'Punjab' not only in the title but also in the film. The latter objection has just come in a few minutes ago. Does this imply that not only has the title to be changed but also a lot of re-shoot to be done ?
Ironically, the film dwells on the drug problem in Punjab! Last heard, the film's producer Anurag Kashyap was planning to move the High Court.
Team Udta Punjab is believed to be in a state of shock. The fate of the film hangs in balance. It remains to be scene if the film hits the theatres on its appointed next Friday.
However, the film has received unprecedented support on social media. Take a look:

Meanwhile, a source close to the film tells SpotboyE, "If we can't depict the drug problem in Punjab, why are sections of the media allowed to write about it? Why such double standards?"
Rumour has it that the changes suggested by the Censor Board after the Examining Committee saw it (which supposedly were 40 in number but have now become 89) have not been given to Team Udta Punjab on paper. ''They ought to give us these changes in black and white, which they do with every other film which does not get cleared by the Examining Committee? Why such double standards?" says the source.
After Anurag Kashyap tried to meet the Minister of State for I & B Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore- and SpotboyE was the first to tell you about it- (Anurag Kashyap knocks on I & B Minister's door for Udta Punjab, May 24), the film has not yet got a viewing from neither the Revising Committee nor the Tribunal. Did Rathore not meet Kashyap?
It cannot be bypassed that Udta Punjab is now in the eye of the storm presumably because of fierce objections to it coming from Punjab's ruling Akali Dal led by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and deputy Sukhbir Badal, who have been assailed by the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party over the growing drug menace in the state, where assembly elections will be held early next year. Both opposition parties have made clear this will be the number one issue in their election campaign.
It doesn't get more complicated than this! 12 days to go, producers Ekta Kapoor and Phantom Films are in the darkest quandary of their lives. Ditto for the film's director Abhishek Chaubey. To repeat, Shahid and Alia are tearing their hair out. Their co-stars Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh are not amused either.
