Noted TV show producer and veteran actress Manju Singh has passed away following an illness, confirmed her family. Reportedly, Manju, who was widely known for her role in the 1979 film Gol Maal, left for her heavenly abode on Thursday night at her residence in Mumbai. She reportedly died due to a cardiac arrest at 73. In a statement, her family confirmed the passing of the actress and said, “With profound grief, we inform you about the demise of our Manju Singh. She lived a beautiful and inspiring life, devoted to her family and her craft. From 'Manju Didi' to 'Manju Nani' she will be truly missed by all.”

As soon as the news of Manju Singh’s demise broke out, fans and celebrities took to social media to offer their heartfelt condolences. Lyricist singer and screenwriter Swanand Kirkire, who had worked with her on the Doordarshan show ‘Swaraj’, took to Twitter to mourn Manju's sad demise and wrote in Hindi, “Manju Singh is no more! Manju ji brought me from Delhi to Mumbai to write her show Swaraj for Doordarshan! He made many wonderful shows Ek Kahani, Show Time etc for DD. Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Golmaal Ki Ratna Hamari Pyaari Manju ji how can you forget your love.. Goodbye!”



While paying her last respects, one fan tweeted, “I'm really sad to hear of #ManjuSingh's passing. I grew up watching her on TV – Khel Khilone and then Showtheme and finally Ek Kahani, which is a landmark show that introduced a huge cohort of talent into the mediascape.”

Fondly called didi, Manju Singh was known for producing shows like ‘Adhika’ 'Ek Kahani'and ‘Samyaktva: True Insight’. Singh also acted in a few Hindi films such as 'Golmaal', 'Hanky Panky', 'Ladies Tailor' and  'Screen Two’ to name a few.

As per reports, the last rites of Manju Singh were performed on Saturday after her granddaughter arrived in Mumbai from New York. The late actress is survived by her daughters Suparna, Shalini and son Gautam.
