Anubhav Sinha’s Tum Bin 2 released today along with Sonakshi Sinha-John Abraham starrer Force 2, but both the films have taken a bad start. Trade analyst Komal Nahta has revealed on Twitter that the morning shows of Tum Bin 2 at few theatres have been cancelled due to lack of audience.
Nahta wrote: “Shows of #TumBin2 cancelled in the morning at some cinemas due to absence of audience!”
Following up his tweet, SpotboyE.com spoke to Komal Nahta, who said, “Tum Bin 2 has got a very poor start. Shows in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh have been cancelled. It got only 5-10% occupancy in most theatres.”
Not just Gujarat And UP, in Mumbai too few morning shows were cancelled at Carnival cinemas in Andheri West while the first show in Cinepolis had only 10 people watching the film.
We also asked Nahata about how Force 2 is performing on its opening day. To which he replied, “Not great! It has got just 15-20% occupancy in theatres.”
Is this due to the recent demonetisation by PM Narendra Modi ? – result of which we already saw on Rock On 2. Prior to the release of Tum Bin 2, Anubhav Sinha (director) spoke to a leading daily and had expressed his concern, "Like any commoners, I am affected by demonetisation, but I am hopeful about my film. It won't suffer at the box office. As a major amount has been recovered, now I am looking forward to a good weekend collection,"
'Tum Bin 2', produced by T-Series, has reportedly being made at a budget of Rs 14.5 crore. The film is said to have already recovered Rs 12 crore from the sale of its music, satellite and digital rights. If that’s really the case, we don’t think that these show cancellations and poor start affects its makers! Right?
