Tisca Chopra & Manoj Bajpayee Bag Filmfare Short Film Awards!

Before the stars line up to collect their Filmfare trophies, here are the names which bagged awards for their turns in short films

Short films came into their own last year, becoming viral hits and attracting big name Bollywood talent.  From people shooting films on their smartphones to popular directors trying their hand at telling brief but engaging stories – the genre has grown and how!

Filmfare this year introduced a new digital segment, the Jio Filmfare Short Film Awards, the winners of which were announced on Facebook Live by Kabir Khan.

Manoj Bajpayee took home the Best Actor gong for Taandav where he played a police constable seduced by the dark path of dishonesty.

The Best Actor (Female) Award went to Tisca Chopra for Chutney, which saw her play a housewife with a dark past.

The Best Film (Fiction) award also went to Chutney, which was directed by Jyoti Kapur Das.

The People’s Choice Award for Best Film went to Khamakha, a romance starring Harshvardhan Rane and Manjari Phadnis while the Best Film (Non-Fiction) award went to Matitali Kusti, a Marathi short film on the struggles of the modern day pehelwans.

The Filmfare Awards will be announced on January 14 and big names like Alia Bhatt, Sonam Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan and Sushant Singh Rajput are in the fray for the top honours this year.
