Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on April 30 last year. The late actor is deeply missed by fans, friends, family and well-wishers, even today. Ahead of Rishi Kapoor’s first death anniversary, read about the time when the late actor’s son, actor Ranbir Kapoor opened up about his relationship with his father. A while back, Ranbir wrote a foreword, for his late father’s biography titled Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored. In the foreword, the young star gave a detailed account of the relationship he shared with his father.
In an excerpt from the foreword, the Sanju actor had said that he wished Rishi Kapoor and he were ‘friendlier’ while he was growing up. He reflected on the formal relationship he shared with the late actor. Ranbir also shared how he has been more ‘closer’ to his mother Neetu Kapoor. The young star had described Rishi Kapoor and his bond as “one of complete reverence”. Ranbir wrote: “I am closer to my mother. I feel that Dad modelled his relationship with me on the one he shared with his own father. And it is true that I have never crossed a certain line with him. But there is no sense of loss or vacuum here. I do wish sometimes that I could be friendlier with him or even spend more time with him.”
Ranbir Kapoor mentioned in his foreword that the most precious thing that Rishi Kapoor gave him was the unconditional love for their mother Neetu Kapoor. He revealed that the late actor showed his sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and him that Neetu Kapoor was the centre of all their lives and home. Ranbir shared, “He showed us by example that she was at the centre of all our lives and our home. With her as our bedrock, none of the ups and downs in our lives could really touch us,”
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor also shared that he learnt to respect his work from Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir mentioned he deeply admired the “very detail-driven” kind of man that his father was.
