The greatest showman of Hindi cinema, Raj Kapoor left behind a legacy that will be forever remembered by the audience. While he passed away in June 1988, he is still considered as one of the legendary filmmakers and actors India has ever seen. Having worked in many iconic projects, he set the bar of the future generation of the entertainment industry. His legacy is carried forward today by his grandson Ranbir Kapoor and granddaughters Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor.
A video of the late actor has now surfaced on the internet. Uploaded by a netizen on YouTube, in the video, he can be seen singing one of his most iconic songs ‘Awaara Hoon,’ from the movie Awaara, as Ranbir, his older sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahani and uncle Randhir Kapoor sit beside him. He can be seen cuddling his grandchildren as he sings the song, originally sung by Mukesh. While the audio of the video has been muted, fans are going gaga over the small snippet. Netizens have taken to the comment section to showered the late filmmaker with love and appreciation. Ranbir had opened up about living up to his grandfather's legacy in an old interview with Koimoi. He had expressed how while he was inspired by his grandfather, uncles and father’s work, he wanted to move out of their shadow and make a name for himself. The actor had said, “I want to live up to my grandfather Raj Kapoor’s name. I am so inspired by them (his grandfather, father and uncles) but I want to move out of their shadow and achieve much more.”
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor has Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal in the pipeline.
