Jiah Khan was found dead at her home in Mumbai’s Juhu residence on June 3, 2013. The news sent tremors across the nation and people mourned her sad demise. The late actress appeared in three Hindi films - Nishabd, Ghajini, and Housefull.
For Ghajini Jiah played the role of a girl who helped Aamir's character in seeking revenge. Back in the day, during the film’s promotion, several reports claimed that Jiah was Aamir's step-sister, as reported by Zoom.
The buzz was that Jiah's mother Rabiya Amin was in a relationship with Aamir's father Tahir Hussain. Earlier, Tahir had dismissed the rumours in an interview, calling the reports 'baseless'. "As far as I know, Rabiya is married to a man from Pakistan. Rabiya is a very close friend of mine, but I was never married to her and Jiah is not my daughter," Tahir was quoted as saying by Zoom.
A Telly Chakkar report also elaborated on the controversy and said, "This is completely untrue and utter rubbish. To be frank I don't know much about my father and I have never asked my mother about him. All I know is that he was an American."
Jiah was reported to be in a relationship with Sooraj Pancholi, and following her demise, the late actress back then was arrested in June 2013 for abetment to suicide on the basis of a note by Jiah. He was granted bail after a few days. A decade later, a special CBI court acquitted Sooraj, son of actor Aditya Pancholi, in the Jiah Khan suicide case due to paucity of evidence.
