Ace celebrity photographer Dabboo Ratnani has been a part of showbiz for more than 25 years now. He is most popularly known for his annual Bollywood celebrity calendars that features the who’s who of the Hindi film industry. He has been doing this calendar for 22 years now, and his latest edition is up for release soon.

In a tease to this year’s calendar, Dabboo has already released the pictures of Vidya Balan, Vicky Kaushal, Abhishek Bachchan, Sunny Leone, Tara Sutaria, Vijay Deverakonda, Saif Ali Khan, Ananya Panday and Kiara Advani. Very soon he will unveil the picture of the Badshah himself, Shah Rukh Khan, who has been a constant part of Dabboo’s annual calendars, and continues it this year as well.

But before he does that, Dabboo gets candid with Spotboye.com and reveals the story behind one of SRK’s earlier calendar shoots, from 2017. “I see the kind of look the actors are in during the time we are to shoot, and try to incorporate that in my theme. When me and Shah Rukh were to shoot for the 2017 calendar, he was in the midst of shooting for Raees and he already had that beard and messy hair,” he shares.

Dabboo goes on to share how that look of Shah Rukh’s inspired him. “So, I thought of a grungier and sexier theme in that rugged space as he was already in that mental zone. So, we did something different with his whole bearded look and a ganji. We set up a big tire shop with old tires. We kept it all black, with Shah Rukh in a black ganji, in front of black tires and a black set. We also kept the picture black and white and it turned out really well. Since it’s a non-commercial project, everyone is ready to experiment,” he concludes.
