Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is one of the most highly anticipated movies, and it is all set to release on Netflix on August 12. The film stars Janhvi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Vineet Kumar Singh, Manav Vij and Ayesha Raza Mishra among others, and it is inspired by the real-life story of Gunjan Saxena. Gunjan Saxena is the only woman to be part of the Kargil War in 1999, making her the first woman IAF officer to go to war. Now the ‘real’ Gunjan Saxena herself revealed that she loved the father-daughter duo in the trailer, which released a few days ago, and she also lauded Pankaj Tripathi’s performance in the film.
Pankaj Tripathi plays the role of father Anup Saxena to Janhvi Kapoor's Gunjan Saxena in the film. Gunjan Saxena took to her Instagram and shared a Netflix video wherein both Pankaj Tripathi and Janhvi Kapoor are speaking about their experience shooting for the film. Sharing the same, Gunjan Saxena wrote, “Father daughter duo. Respect @pankajtripathi .. You nailed it... Kudos.... The most simplistically portrayed father daughter bonding. @pankajtripathi @sharansharma @janhvikapoor @dharmamovies #gunjansaxena.” When the trailer had released, Gunjan Saxena had also shared it and had written, “@sharansharma finally your hardwork and my story on your canvas. @janhvikapoor So good to see you on screen after seeing you during shoots..Now super excited for the movie.. #mustwatchGunjanSaxenaOnNetflix.”
Meanwhile, in the video shared by Netflix, Pankaj Tripathi can be seen saying that it’s a very personal film for him. “Just like Anup Saxena in the film, I am the same kind of father in real life. I am always after my daughter, I keep telling her to go play lawn tennis. Meeting him was extremely calming for me. When I saw him, I kept observing his body language for a long time. He is a very interesting man, very interesting and very detail-oriented.”
Meanwhile, Janhvi said, “We spent a lot of time before we started filming as well and I just loved hearing his stories. And the kind of relationship that Gunjan and Anup sir share where she hangs on to every word that he says. Like for her, what her father says is the gospel truth and that's where it starts and ends for her. I think that's how it has become for me and Pankaj sir. If he said well done, it means that my life is made.” ALSO READ: Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl's Dori Tutt Gaiyaan Song: Janhvi Kapoor Says ‘Never Give Up On Your Dreams’
