Vivek Agnihotri’s latest release 'The Kashmir Files' starring Mithun Chakraborty Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar, has left everyone impressed with its hard-hitting content. The movie, which was released last Friday, has been garnering praise from audiences and critics alike. Recently, Yami Gautam, who is married to filmmaker Aditya Dhar, a Kashmiri Pandit, has watched the film and shared her viewers on social media. The actress urged everyone to support the movie saying that it took us 32 years and a film to get to know the truth.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Yami wrote, “Being married to a Kashmiri Pandit, I know first hand of the atrocities that this peace-loving community has gone through. But majority of the nation is still unaware. It took us 32 years and a film to get to know the truth. Please watch and support #TheKashmirFiles.” The Kaabil actress gave her honest reaction while tweeting her husband Aditya Dhar's reaction to the film. Aditya Dhar dropped the poster of the film and wrote, “You might have seen numerous videos of Kashmiri Pandits breaking down in the theatres after watching #TheKashmirFiles. The emotion is real. It shows how long we kept our pain and tragedy repressed as a community. We didn’t have any shoulder to cry on and no ear to hear our pleas.”

Yami Gautam is the first Bollywood celebrity who has voiced her opinions on The Kashmir Files. A few days ago, Kangana Ranaut had slammed the Hindi cinema industry over their silence on the movie. In her post, the Queen actress asked everyone to take note of Bollywood’s pin-drop silence on the film, which she believes 'broke many myths about theatres being exclusive for big budgets event films.'

The Kashmir Files traced the real-life and tragic incidents of the Kashmiri Pandit exodus in the valley and the subsequent genocide by Islamic militants.
