Vivek Agnihotri’s recently released film ‘The Kashmir Files’ has taken the internet and box-office by storm. The movie, which showed the exodus, brutality, hardships, and sorrows of Kashmiri Pandits in the late 80s and 90s, has sparked debates on several factors which were earlier unheard and unknown to many. Each day, stories related to the movie are making headlines and as we speak of this actress Pallavi Joshi has opened up about why it was important to make the film.

In a recent interaction with Bollywoodlife, the actor and wife of Vivek Agnihotri Pallavi shared her views on why there was a need to tell the world what happened to the people in the valley. She was quoted saying, “This is a thirty-two-year-old story, and unfortunately a reality, a story that never came in front of us. It was suppressed by the politics, media, system, and the people in times gone by. It wasn’t suppressed to an extent that it will get a voice later, but it was badly suppressed to an extent that it never really came out.”


The actress who played the role of JNU Professor Radhika Menon in the movie revealed that despite living in the same land, she was unaware of the brutality her people had faced back then. When she first heard the story, her reaction was of total disbelief because she refused to believe something like this happened in the country and she was unaware of it. But later when the research started, Pallavi admitted that it was her shortcoming that something so huge and brutal flipped from her notice.

Later, she decided to make a film on the genocide that the Kashmiri Pandits community went through. She said, “Politically we cannot do anything because that is not in our hands, but we are in the field of mass communication and


Meanwhile, the film is running successfully at the box office. The Kashmir Files has received an overwhelming response from the audience and has crossed Rs. 200 crore mark just in a few days of its release.
