After year-long ailment, Rishi Kapoor is back to the silver screen with a new venture The Body. Co-starring Emraan Hashmi, Vedhika and Sobhita Dhulipala, the film is directed by Jeethu Joseph, presented by Viacom18 Studios and produced by Azure Entertainment. The Body is slated to release on December 13, 2019. The film will now clash with Rani Mukerji starrer cop drama Mardaani 2.
The Body is based on its Spanish antecedent. Moreover, the upcoming film marks the debut of the celebrated Malayalam filmmaker, Jeethu Joseph in the Hindi cinema. He's best known for Mohanlal-starrer, Drishyam, which was remade in four Indian languages and is one of the top two grossing Malayalam feature films of all time. The story of Joseph's upcoming directorial revolves around a police officer's search for a body gone missing from a morgue. A while back, Emraan Hashmi took to social media to unveil the first official poster of the film. Captioning it he wrote, “This December, join the search to find #TheBody. The Body marks the reunion of Shobita Dhulipala and Emraan Hashmi, after starring in Netflix’s espionage thriller Bard of Blood, which also starred Viineet Singh, Kirti Kulhari, Sohum Shah, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Rajit Kapoor. As seen in the web series, Emraan and Sobhita portrayed Indian intelligence agents. Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, the show is based on a book of the same name, which has been penned by Bilal Siddiqi.
