India is facing the most difficult time due to the ongoing pandemic of COVID -19. Due to the lockdown in our country, workers and migrants are amongst the worst hit people who are helpless and have no other option but to walk down a journey of miles with their luggage and family with no food, no money and no precise help by the state or the central government.
Ever since the lockdown was announced, the migrant workers started walking towards their homes in different states of India as the travel services are shut. Heartbreaking videos of migrant workers walking to their homes are doing rounds on social media for quite some now. To curb their problem, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hosted press con where she spoke about the migrant labours problem and said Government Of India will provide then financial support.
Thappad director Anubav Sinha, who has been quite vocal about the entire situation, could not hold himself and took to his Twitter handle to write about the same. The filmmaker tweeted, “I hope the Government of India is watching TV past 45 days. They are still walking hundreds of miles to reach home. Pregnant women. Infants. Without food, water, money. Please think of them when you make your well-groomed TV appearances. YOU HAVE FAILED MISERABLY!!!”
Anubhav Sinha even extended a helping hand by donating 2000 face shields to UP Police to curb the spread of this novel virus. Anubhav is doing his bit and we should do ours too.
