Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn, Sidharth Malhotra, and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen together on screen in their upcoming film Thank God. The film, helmed by Indra Kumar and backed by Bhushan Kumar, went on floors in January this year, and Ajay Devgn took to his social media account in January to share pictures from the set. However, now, amid the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, it is being reported that the makers of the film suffered a loss of about Rs 2 crore.
Bollywood Hungama reports that according to what the makers had planned, the shoot would have kickstarted from mid-April after Sidharth Malhotra wrapped up Lucknow schedule of Mission Majnu. However, amid the devastating second wave of COVID-19 across India, that couldn’t happen, and the makers had to incur a loss of Rs 2 crore. A source informed the portal that a massive set had already been made for the movie, in Film City, Mumbai. However, when the Government announced stricter restrictions in April, makers of the film anticipated that it would last longer than the time that it was planned for.
According to the source, the makers had two options- first, to either dismantle the set, or second, to wait it out and meanwhile pay the rent of the set per day. The makers reportedly chose for the dismantling of set, which meant that they suffered a loss of about Rs 2 crore. However, had they not dismantled it, the loss would have been much higher.
