Sushant Singh Rajput was famished for knowledge, always on the look-out for a company where he could gain knowledge. The two years that Sushant spent preparing for the project Paani with director Shekhar Kapoor were among the happiest and most fulfilling of his life.

And so what if Paani finally didn’t get made?

“I learnt so much in those two years , and not just about films and filmmaking. Shekhar Sir has an insane amount of knowledge on a wide range of subjects. And so what if Paani finally didn’t get made? I’d go through the whole experience all over again if given the chance,” Sushant had shared with me.

But whom did Sushant consider his guru? “My favourite teacher has got to be my brother-in-law, OP Singh. He was the one who made me believe when I was very young that anything is possible as long as I don’t stop dreaming.”

Sushant learnt that no problem is insurmountable. “He actually taught me that no problem is too big to be solved and to not to be bogged down by problems. He taught me that all the complexities of life are a mere re-arrangement of small, basic things. He taught me how to work my way around all problems.”

Sushant’s brother-in-law was also responsible for the late actor career option. “One of the reasons why I became academically qualified and then made a career removed from academics with absolute certainty is my brother-in-law. On Teacher’s Day I want to thank him for teaching me everything that I needed to know to reach where I am,” Sushant had  said on Teacher’s Day 2016.
