Ali Abbas Zafar’s web series Tandav starring Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia and others, has been at the receiving end of severe backlash on social media since the last few days. There has been outrage on social media over the web series and a section of Netizens have been demanding a ban of the web series for hurting religious sentiments. Amid the outrage, Kangana Ranaut also slammed the web series and said that the makers must be jailed for ‘torturing viewers’.

Kangana Ranaut took to her Twitter account and re-shared a video in which Kapil Mishra said that he has sent a legal notice to Amazon Prime Video demanding the removal of Tandav from its platform. Kangana shared the video and wrote that the web series is creatively poor, and objectionable on every level. She tweeted, “The problem isn’t just the Hindu phobic content, it’s also creatively poor and deprived, atrocious and objectionable on every level hence deliberately placed controversial scenes. Put them in jail not just for criminal intentions but also for torturing the viewer #tandavwebseries.”

Meanwhile, recently, director Ali Abbas Zafar issued an apology on behalf of the cast and crew of Tandav. He took to his social media and shared a statement that read, “The cast and crew did not have any intention to offend the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion, or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead. The cast and crew of Tandav take cognizance of the concerns expressed by the people and unconditionally apologize if it has unintentionally hurt anybody's sentiments.”
