Takht: Karan Johar Questioned On Islamophobia; Filmmaker States 'This Isn’t A Story That I Wrote, History Wrote'

Karan Johar will be donning the director’s hat after a long time for the historical period drama Takht. The film is one of the much-anticipated movies of the year, and recently, KJo released the teaser of the film giving fans a glimpse of what’s in store for them. As Takht is a historical film set with a backdrop of the Mughal rule in India, at the trailer launch of Bhoot, Karan Johar reacted on the Islamophobia wave in the world.

As Karan Johar is producing horror film Bhoot as well, the trailer of the Vicky Kaushal film was recently released. According to an IANS report, during the trailer launch of Bhoot, a reporter questioned Karan Johar on what he thinks about the current wave of Islamophobia and how sensitive he is about the portrayal of religion in Takht. Replying to the reporter, Karan mentioned that he is talking to a filmmaker who has directed the film called ‘My Name Is Khan.’ He added that his sensitivities to religions across the world will always be on the point, and mentioned that it is something he believes in as a human being, as a citizens of this great country, and generally as a world citizen. Talking about the film Takht, Karan Johar added, “Sensitivities to everyone and everything is something that we all take very deep care of. Also, with Takht, this isn’t a story that I wrote. History wrote this story, I’m only telling it.” The filmmaker explained that Takht isn’t a story that he wrote but is a story that history has written and he is only the one telling it.




Takht stars Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt and Anil Kapoor in lead roles. Meanwhile, recently, during the weekend, the teaser of Takht has been out, announcing a release date of Christmas,2021.
