With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which got several families locked up in the four walls of their houses, also gave rise to domestic violence against women. Cases just doubled up in the country, with women facing their abusers literally every single day. Also according to the National Family Health Survey, while 86% of women are the victim of domestic violence, 77% chose to remain quiet and suffered through it. Now Femina magazine in association with UN Women has come up with the campaign #ActAgainstAbuse.
#ActAgainstAbuse campaign video has Bollywood’s actresses Shabana Azmi, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Radhika Apte and Taapsee Pannu. The video ironically speaks about how several individuals turn a blind eye towards it, with the actresses indicating the same by covering their ears, eyes and mouth with their hands. The lines mouthed by these actresses are asking the viewers though we have heard and listened to many things surrounding us, how many of us noticed the bruises, scars, those screams indicating pain.
Further urging all to come together and support the ones who are victims of domestic violence. This campaign is to create awareness and provide information for the ones in need, thus making this place a better and safe space for women. Watch this soul stirring video below-
