Thappad actress Taapsee Pannu resumed work once the lockdown was relaxed. The actress flew to Jaipur first, for a Tamil film, which she got done with, in a start-to-finish schedule. She then started filming for Haseen Dillruba, Rashmi Rocket later, and then Looop Lapeta. Taapsee has been busy shooting for her upcoming projects. In an interview recently, Pannu spoke about the difficulties a woman-led film faces. The actress opened up on how it’s difficult to find actors to be a part of a movie where the actress has a bigger role.
Since some time now, Taapsee Pannu has been pointing out how the budget of a woman-led film is sometimes equal to a male A-lister’s salary. With the actress headlining so many woman-led films, during an interview with ETimes, when she was asked if she sees it changing, Taapsee said, “How many times do you see a male A-lister feature in a female A-lister’s film unless he is co-producing it, but the opposite happens all the time and no one bats an eyelid.” The actress added, “It’s tedious to find actors to be a part of a film where the actress might have 10-20 per cent more screen time.”
Pannu then mentioned that there have been times when actors who have done lesser films than her have refused to co-star claiming that there was nothing ‘heroic’ in their part. Taapsee continued, “Not just me, Deepika Padukone, who has worked with such big names, had to work with a fabulous actor like Vikrant Massey in ‘Chhapaak’, Kangana Ranaut paired up with Jassie Gill for ‘Panga’, Alia Bhatt with Vicky Kaushal in ‘Raazi’, Vidya Balan with Manav Kaul for ‘Tumhari Sulu’. You see the pattern? Actresses never do that.”
Meanwhile, when asked if actors are ridiculed for doing smaller roles in films, Taapsee said, “Yes, probably because their male counterparts don’t do it. But women think of the film as a whole and see the role’s importance in the plot. I have made a career out of it!” The actress then shared the example of how her role in the film Baby was seven-minute long, but it got her noticed. She added how the film Baby also got her Naam Shabana. Taapsee finally concluded and said that she can carry a film on her shoulders. Also Read: Mira Rajput Wears A Sexy Sculpted Magenta Bikini In Goa; Gives A Peek At Her Curves In A Mirror Selfie
