Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was accused of sexual misconduct on Saturday, after actress Payal Ghosh alleged that he had tried to force himself on her. She urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take action against Kashyap and asked for help, stating that she knew her security is at risk. Reacting to this, Anurag Kashyap called the allegations baseless and tweeted that he doesn’t engage in such behavior or tolerate it. Now, Taapsee Pannu, who collaborated with Anurag Kashyap for films such as Saand Ki Aankh, Manmarziyaan, has come out in support of the filmmaker.
Taapsee Pannu defended Anurag Kashyap, and supported her friend through a social media post. She took to her Instagram and shared a monochromatic picture of her with Kashyap, which seems to have been clicked on the sets of their film Manmarziyaan. In her note, she called him her friend and stated that he is the biggest feminist that she knows. She then wrote about her keenness to work with him in yet another film that portrays women as powerful and significant.
Taapsee Pannu wrote, “For you, my friend , are the biggest feminist I know. See you on the sets soon of yet another piece of art that shows how powerful and significant women are in the world you create :).” Take a look at her post:
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap, denying the allegations against him, responded through a series of tweets. He wrote in Hindi, “Wow, it took so long in the attempt to silence me. It's ok. In the attempt to silence me, you dragged several other women despite being a woman yourself. Have some limit Madam. Will just want to say that whatever the accusations are, they are all unsubstantiated.” Read more here.
