Swara Bhasker, who has given some of the most remarkable performances, is a well-known name in the industry. Apart from acting, she is known for her strong political opinions, and she often sparks discussions on social media. The Veere Di Wedding actor is quite active on social media and she even updates her fans and followers about her life. Recently, she received a death threat which she shared on Instagram.
The letter which was written in Hindi read: “The youth of the country won’t tolerate the insult of Veer Savarkar and Swara should just make her films or else she be killed’. The post was captioned, ‘देश के नौजवान तो ख़ैर सड़कों पर नौकरी की माँग कर रहे हैं.. पर एक प्रजाति महंगाई, बेरोज़गारी, भुखमरी सब सहेगी.. बस ऐतिहासिक सच और तथ्य नहीं सहेगी! इतना रोश - पर नम्बर रेवारी में बैठे किसी चाचा का डाला है भाई ने! 😬 #threat (Youth of the country is asking for employment. But then there are certain people who will bear unemployment, and inflation and will starve but they will not be able to face the truth and the facts. This much hatred)”.
Interestingly, this time netizens came to Swara Bhaskar’s support. They wrote, "More power to you Swara", "Stay strong, keep the good work up", "Powerful lady", "You are brave lady of our country love you", "What's wrong with such people... God give them a piece of mind.. I support you Swara."
But, the question remains, how could someone think of sending a death threat?
According to PTI, the Tanu Weds Manu actress has already filed a police complaint at Versova Police Station two days ago. An official said, “Based on the complaint, we have registered a non-cognizable offenceInstagram against unidentified persons.”
On the professional front, Swara will be seen next in Sheer Qorma and Jahaan Chaar Yaar. Sheer Qorma is a film based on LGBTQIA+ community where she plays a lesbian romancing Divya Dutta in the film. The film also stars Shabana Azmi. The film has already won Best Short Film Audience Award at the Frameline Film Festival. Jahaan Chaar Yaar’s release date is yet to be announced.
