Swara Bhasker and Vivek Agnihotri are at loggerheads, yet again. This time it is their thoughts over the Bishop of Jalandhar. Swara Bhasker took to Twitter to express her opinion on independent MLA PC George terming the Kerala nun who accused Bishop of Jalandhar, Franco Mulakkal for raping her on multiple occasions between 2014 and 2016, a ‘prostitute’. She wrote, “Absolutely shameful and disgusting!!!! Scum present across political spectrums and religious divides in India. Literally nauseating!”

The director was quick to reply to Swara and wrote,
“Where is the placard –“#MeTooProstituteNun?” referring to the 3 aspects. One,
the fact that Swara had vociferously criticised the way in which the Kathua
rape accused was supported. He is also referring to the currently ongoing
#MeTooUrbanNaxal conversation, which has effectively been a direct criticism of
his book, in the aftermath of the arrest of the activists. Third, #MeToo
movement where women came out with the trauma of sexual harassment. An infuriated
Swara wrote, “Vivek. Just want to point out that you are using the trauma of
women who are rape survivors to slut shame and abuse in public a woman you
don’t like. In the rare moments of sanity that may visit your brain - otherwise
unhinged with hate- think about how low that is. #scum.”
Vivek Agnihotri's Tweet
Not just that, she refused to take things lying down and
immediately reported the director’s account to Twitter, who went ahead and
blocked it as it went against Twitter’s policy. Swara wrote, “Thank you @TwitterIndia @TwitterSupport 4 taking
cognisance of @vivekagnihotri ‘s abusive
tweet. And making him delete it! No tolerance 4 cyber bullying & abuse of
women on public platforms! (Or private - but one thing at a time) Thank u #SayNoToBullying

You may recall, in January this year, things heated up between Swara and Vivek after the former’s open letter to Padmaavat director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The actress opined that practices of Sati and Jauhar were glorified in the film. The director chose to disagree with Swara’s thoughts and termed her a ‘fake feminist. Coming back to the story, no matter the difference of opinion, one needs to draw a line while addressing each other on social media. Not done!
