On September 9, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty for alleged connection to drugs linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The brother-sister duo was booked under Sections 20, 22, 27, and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. After completing her 14 days of judicial custody, Rhea and her brother applied for bail, which was eventually rejected the Mumbai’s special court. Actress’ custody was first extended till September 22, then till October 16, and now till October 20, 2020, as per latest reports.
As it will soon be a month of Rhea’s custody, some of Bollywood personalities are demanding her release. This morning Anubhav Sinha Tweeted, “That girl has been in Jail for a month. Seriously guys!!!,” tweeting in support of Rhea, Swara Bhasker demanded her release and she wrote, “RELEASE #RHEACHAKRABORTY.”
Marmarziyan writer Kanika Dhillon too re-tweeted Anubhav Sinha’s Tweet and asked people to come forward to help Rhea release from the jail. Kanika wrote, “Yesss!!! Let that sink in... she has already been in jail for A MONTH!! RELEASE @Tweet2Rhea #rheachakroborty n all those who were baying for her blood.. reflect. Ponder. And at least NOW come forward n support her to be out of JAIL! #ReleaseRheaChakraborty.”

In the recent development, AIIMS dismissed the homicide angle in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case and said it is a case of suicide. Reacting to the same, Rhea's lawyer told IANS, “I have seen the statement of the Doctors from AIIMS concerning SSR case. The official papers and report are only with AIIMS and CBI, which will be submitted in court once investigations are over.
