An actress who can light anyone’s mood with her thousand-watt smile, the first Indian beauty to win a global beauty pageant, a doting mother, a spectacular actress, and inspiration to many is 'Sushmita Sen'. The actress has a career spanning more than two decades. She has delivered many hit films which were critically acclaimed by the audience and the film fraternity. But Sushmita took a hiatus from the mainstream for almost 10 years. Now, she opened up about her long break and also shared why it found it so hard to get roles upon her return.
Sushmita made her powerful comeback with a web series Aarya which was directed by Ram Madhvani. In a recent conversation with film critic Sucharita Tyagi, the ‘Main Hoon Naa’ actress said that the 10 years absence from Hindi cinema set the priorities in place for her. She was quoted saying, “Mainstream cinema wasn't giving me what I wanted. A lot of it was a preconceived notion of my age and my screen age and that I hadn't worked for ten years." Sen also stressed the importance of networking in the industry and how her reluctant attitude made her miss the opportunities. She said, "I don't know what the mindset was or maybe I was not putting myself out there. I have never been good at that. I am no good at networking. It did not work for me."
The former beauty pageant is a proud mother of two daughters, Alisha and Renee, and often shares videos and pictures with them on her social media handles. Her comeback web series Aarya received immense love and applause from her fans and critics and now the diva is all gearing up for its third season.
