Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande, whose love story blossomed on the sets of Pavitra Rishta, dated for a huge seven years before they decided to part ways. While the reason behind their unanticipated breakup wasn't officially announced, it was being speculated that the decision was taken mutually, owing to their respective careers. A part of the gossip world also claimed that Sushant Singh Rajput fell in love with Kriti Sanon while the shooting of Raabta and that's what made him part ways with Ankita. However, neither of Sushant or Kriti had ever admitted to dating each other.

In an old interview Times Of India, the Kai Po Che actor had opened up on the same. Upon being asked if such rumours ever changed his rapport with Kriti, Sushant said, "Nothing has changed between Kriti and me, but there was a point when it got nasty. Other than saying that Kriti was the reason (for my break-up), it was also alleged that we had manufactured this entire thing (link-up) for our film's promotion. That is when I decided to set the record straight."

He added, "The day I use anything other than my acting skills to get me going in the industry, I shall quit. This will be the last thing I will ever do. If people think good things about me, I'll make them smile. If they think bad things about me, it's their problem."

During the same interview, Sushant was quizzed if Ankita would remain a crucial part of his life after their breakup, to which, he said, "Of course, there are few things that have actually shaped the way I am today. One of those things was my mother. I stayed with Ankita for seven years. There are very few things I am sure I would be reminded of just before dying and this would definitely be one of them, in a good way."

On his first month death anniversary, Ankita Lokhande remembered the late actor by lighting a diya and calling him God's child.
