Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on September 9 due to her alleged connection to drugs which is also linked to Sushant Singh Rajput. She and her brother Showik Chakraborty were charged under Sections 20, 22, 27, and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The actress was arrested and remanded to judicial custody till September 22. After 14 days in judicial custody, Rhea even filed for bail which was remanded to judicial custody till October 16. The bail plea of the actress was rejected by the special NDPS court, as per the reports. However, the latest news that is coming is that the Special NDPS Court has now extended the judicial custody of Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty and others till 20th October, as reported by news agency ANI.
After their bail plea was rejected by the special NDPS court, the actress and her brother Showik had approached the Bombay High Court for bail and reportedly, the High Court has reserved the order and if the court approves bail then Rhea and Showik will be let off. Meanwhile, as her judicial custody has been extended, AIIMS dismissed the homicide angle in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case and said it is a case of suicide.
Reacting to it, Rhea's lawyer told IANS, "I have seen the statement of the Doctors from AIIMS concerning SSR case. The official papers and report are only with AIIMS and CBI, which will be submitted in court once investigations are over. We await the official version of CBI."
