Sushant Singh Rajput passed away on June 14. He died by suicide as he hung himself from the ceiling fan of his Bandra apartment. It has been reported that it was his servant who called the neighbours and informed the police as Sushant did not open his bedroom door. When the door opened, they found him hanging from the fan with the help of a bed-sheet. While the postmortem report has revealed that he died by suffocation due to hanging, probe is still on. Police is investigating the cause that promoted him to take such a drastic step.

As per a report in TOI, Mumbai Police has recorded statement of six people in Sushant's suicide case. His sister who stays in Goregaon, his friend Mahesh Shetty whom Sushant called last, his rumoured GF Rhea Chakraborty, and his servants and maids were asked to record their statements. Reports suggests that his sister ruled out any possibility of Sushant being stressed due to financial crisis.

A Police officer has been quoted saying by the publication, "Rajput's sister said he had no financial problems but was under treatment for depression for past six months. His friend Shetty said the actor had called him early on Sunday, but he did not pick up. He said if he had, the situation might have been different."

Depression is said to be a prominent reason that forced Sushant to take his own life. Earlier, it was reported that his friend Mahesh Shetty revealed to the police that Sushant had stopped taking his anti-depressant pills as he thought he was fine.
