The Supreme Court ordered on Wednesday that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will take over the investigation into actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The apex court also asked the Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence it has collected so far in the case to CBI. The Court also said the FIR registered  in Patna based on the complaint filed by Sushant’s father KK Singh was correct and that Bihar government was competent to refer the FIR lodged by Sushant’s father to CBI. Now, as the CBI has taken over the investigation, the latest reports suggest that the agency has written to BMC commissioner seeking permission to visit Mumbai.

As per Times Now, the CBI team has written to BMC commissioner seeking exemption of quarantine.  As per COVID- related norms, it is mandatory to secure an exemption from BMC. According to Times Now, a circular was issued in the first week of August, and on the 8th of August, it was sent to CBI. At that time, part of the case was under process of transfer of CBI and accordingly whatever permissions were required, the CBI was made aware of those permissions. They were made aware that if they have to send a team to Mumbai they will require certain permissions and the CBI has already sought those permissions.

BMC had issued an order a few days ago, making 14 days' home quarantine mandatory for all domestic passengers landing in the city. According to Economic Times, it also said that the government officials seeking exemption from quarantine would need to write to the BMC two days before their travel to Mumbai and give ‘full details of their work and elaborate the importance of the work and also justify the request for home quarantine exemption

The order reportedly came after the whole controversy over BMC sending IPS Officer Vinay Tewari into quarantine right after he arrived in Mumbai from Patna to investigate the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput.  ALSO READ: CBI For Sushant Singh Rajput: Family Releases Statement Post SC Verdict: Those Involved In The Dastardly Crime Will Be Brought To Justice
