The NDPS Court has given a big relief to actress Rhea Chakraborty. After a span of over ten months, Rhea's bank accounts have been defreezed by the NDPS Court. Her bank accounts were frozen by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) last year after she was booked in the drugs case following actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death in June.
In her plea for defreezing her bank accounts, Rhea said that she is an actor/model by profession and that the NCB freezed the bank accounts and FDs by Notice dated 16/09/2020 without any season, and it is causing grave injustice and prejudice to her.
Her application stated that the defreezing of her bank accounts is required for making the payment of her employees etc. She also said that she supports her own lifestyle from the amount in the bank accounts before adding that her brother Showik Chakraborty is also dependent on her. The actress had also put in a plea to get back her Macbook Pro Apple Laptop and Apple Iphone. However, the NDPS court has asked the actress to furnish an indemnity bond of Rs 1 lakh before it allows for the same.
Last year, in October, the Bombay High Court granted bail to Rhea in a drugs case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. The NCB had charged the actress under the stringent Section 27-A of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act that pertains to 'financing and harbouring illegal drug trafficking'. Rhea made headlines for many controversial reasons. Post bail, she has been keeping a low-profile. She often shares motivating quotes on Instagram.
Talking about Sushant Singh Rajput, the actor passed away at his Bandra residence on June 14, 2020. The CBI is still investigating his case.
