Due to Coronavirus and the lockdown, places of mass gatherings such as theatres, temples, malls, schools, colleges etc. had been shut. Now, after several months, the Maharashtra Government gave a green signal to the theatres to reopen, however, has laid strict guidelines. Diljit Dosanjh, Manoj Bajpayee and Fatima Sana Shaikh-starrer Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari became the new film to hit the screens in the unlock phase. However, due to low footfalls, the shows are going almost empty. The result is that the night shows of this film have been cancelled at Maratha Mandir and Gaiety.

As per a Times Of India report, theatre owners of Maratha Mandir and Gaiety have decided to cancel the night shows of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari as not many moviegoers are stepping in. As per the report, the theatre owners were willing to run the show if there were 30 people. They even made concession and were willing to run Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari with 15 viewers, however, disappointingly, not many showed up. As per the report, the morning and evening shows at these two theatres were also average. Managing Director of Gaiety and Maratha Mandir, Manoj Desai confirmed the news to the portal and said, "Yes, this has happened."

In a conversation with SpotboyE, Diljit had spoken about his film's theatrical release post the lockdown. He had shared "We are a movie-loving country. Lekin jaan zyada pyari hai (but we love life more than movies). I wonder if people would take the risk!"
