Bollywood’s renowned film editor Sanjib Kumar Datta, who has films like Iqbal, Ek Hasina Thi and Mardaani to his credit passed away on Sunday. He was 54. Datta breathed his last, yesterday. Sanjib Kumar Datta was based in Kolkata for the last couple of years. He was alumnus of FTII. Datta has more than 80 films including Hindi and Bengali to his account.
Confirming the news to Indian Express, Sanjib’s frequent collaborator and filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor told the leading website, “What I have heard is that he went in for a bypass but never came out of it. I am still gathering details. It is a big loss. He was the silent architect behind 13 of my films,” Kukunoor said.
Taking to Twitter, Sujoy Gosh confirmed the news and wrote, “one of our finest editor sanjib datta. bhalo thakis kaka... we will miss you.”
