Actor Tanishaa Mukerji, the daughter of veteran Tanuja and the sister of Kajol, made her Bollywood debut with 'Sssshhh…' She then went on to feature in YRF’s Neal 'n' Nikki, Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao, RGV’s Sarkar and many more. She was also the first runner-up in Bigg Boss 7. But she has now been missing from onscreen for a while. Despite being from an influential background, Tanishaa failed to make a big impact on the audience. In a recent conversation, Mukerji opined on the age-old topic, nepotism and if star kids are favoured more in the industry.

While speaking with Etimes, Tanishaa said that ‘Nepotism is a rubbish argument.’ She argued that people are using this ‘fancy word’ ‘out of the context’. According to her, she thinks it is the hard work that is being seen. People will talk about a non-star kids struggle and how the person made it big in the industry, whereas for a star kid, people have a preconceived notion for them. She states, “No, they come with a blank slate. That’s a huge benefit in our industry. There are a lot of cons also. I am not denying it.” Furthermore, she calls herself the poster child of nepotism failing.

“Main toh nepotism ki number 1 example honi chahiye thi. I have got Rani (Mukerji) on one side, Ajay (Devgn) on one side, my mother is Tanuja, my sister is Kajol and I also have Ayan (cousin, director) in the family. I am number one poster child of nepotism failing. (laughs) All those people screaming nepotism, look at me and then talk,” she told the publication.

“Some people will have a problem with what I have said, but some people will also say that she makes sense. It’s a give and take. It’s a beautiful time in the world to be out there and speaking your mind because people are having these conversations. And this is important,” she continued.

In the same conversation, she also praised actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, and how they are popular because of their talent.
