The second wave of Coronavirus has begun to affect a lot of businesses, one of which is the entertainment business. With many exhibitors putting their films on hold with the country observing lockdown in certain parts of the country, makers of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi have also decided to keep the film on hold. The decision was taken by the film director Rohit Shetty after his meeting with honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray.
The CM also appreciated the filmmaker for this brave move by choosing to postpone his film. Makers released a statement that read, “The Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray had a discussion with director Rohit Shetty yesterday. In the meeting, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray appreciated Rohit Shetty as he took the brave and difficult decision of postponing Sooryavanshi owing to the current COVID situation in the state.” Sooryavanshi belongs to the cop universe of Rohit Shetty, was scheduled to release on March 27, 2020, but with the outbreak of COVID-19 was kept on hold.
Later after the industry resumed shooting, it was announced that this action drama will release in theatres on April 30, 2021. However, unfortunately now the film will be again kept on hold due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in the nation.
